Get to know us.
For Pastor Josh Sexton, launching Transylvania Community Church is more than planting a church—it's coming home.
Josh grew up in the Rosman community, where he attended school and played basketball for Rosman High School. The people, families, and traditions of this community helped shape his life, and they continue to hold a special place in his heart. Today, Josh is excited to invest back into the community that invested so much in him by sharing the love of Christ and helping people grow in their faith. His passion is simple: to build a church where everyone feels welcome, relationships are genuine, God's Word is faithfully taught, and people of every age can experience the life-changing hope of Jesus. Whether you're searching for a church home, returning after being away for a while, or simply curious about faith, Josh and the entire launch team would love to welcome you on August 30.
"We'd love for you to come, meet our family, and experience what God is doing through Transylvania Community Church. There's a place for you here."

OUR PRIMARY BELIEFS
“We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ."
WhY PLANT ANOTHER CHURCH?
Some have drifted away from church. Others have never experienced a genuine relationship with Jesus. Still others simply need a fresh invitation to come back. Transylvania Community Church exists to reach those people. Every person matters to God, and every new church creates another opportunity for someone to hear the life-changing message of Christ.
“Our greatest prayer is that people who have given up on church—or even on Jesus—will give Him another chance.”
HOPE IS COMING TO TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY
While Transylvania County is home to many wonderful churches faithfully serving their communities, thousands of people remain disconnected from Christ and from a local church. The goal of Transylvania Community Church is simple: to introduce people to Jesus, help them grow in their faith, and build a church where everyone feels welcome to explore what it means to follow Him.
God Is Already Preparing Hearts
Although the first worship service is still ahead, God is already at work.
Pastor Josh Sexton has been amazed by the conversations he's had throughout the county.
One mother shared that her son had told her he would never return to church—unless Josh planted one. Just one week later, the announcement was made that Transylvania Community Church was becoming a reality.
Another family told Josh they had been praying that God would lead someone to plant a church on their side of the county. When they heard about the new church, they felt God had answered their prayers.
Several young adults who have not attended church in years have already told Josh they plan to attend the launch service. Even complete strangers have stopped him in restaurants and grocery stores just to say, “We'll see you on August 30."
Those moments have been powerful reminders that God often prepares hearts long before a church opens its doors.
